A Murder of Crows

This is just a very small, thumbnail-sized piece I did today. I allowed myself a little more stylization than I normally do, and was sort of hoping to achieve a card art-like look with it. I'm more pleased with how the framing turned out than the actual crows themselves, but overall I like the piece, and will probably revisit the subject again at some point.

A loose african elephant sketch I drew today. I'm really intrigued by the wrinkles and textures of the skin, and think this is a subject I would really like to try drawing again, but much much larger. It's probably only about four inches long, and I think worker at a bigger size would give me more opportunity to show the textures there.

Some Thoughts and a Swamp Troll

So NaNoWriMo has ended, which means I've got a lot more time on my hands to get back to drawing. Also, I've really been feeling an urge to start working in color. On Monday I picked up some Prismacolor colored pencils, but haven't really had a solid opportunity to use them yet, and I feel a little hampered by how few colors I have access to. In the meantime, I threw this fellow together in under a half an hour today, just messing around with some crayola markers. As a piece of art, I'm not very satisfied with it. But it was surprisingly fun to create, just relaxing and messing around with the colors. I'm hoping to, in the next few weeks, try my hand at some acrylics, so we'll see how that goes. Anyway, without further ado–the troll.
